ECMC Statement Regarding Resuming Elective Surgeries

BUFFALO, N.Y – Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC) today released the following statement regarding Governor Cuomo’s announcement about resuming elective surgeries in areas of New York State.

ECMCC President and CEO Thomas J. Quatroche Jr., Ph.D., said, “We are pleased Governor Cuomo has appointed Lt. Governor Hochul as the point person to lead the reopening of Western New York. We look forward to working with Lt. Governor Hochul to find a way to safely begin elective surgeries and other healthcare services, while maintaining our current capacity for a potential surge. This should be a thoughtful and informed process that protects the health and safety of both our patients and caregivers, as well as our broader community. Working with the Governor and his administration, we will continue to provide input in the coming days to ensure our healthcare services resume when the time is right.”
