Kaori P. Tanaka | Associate Chief of Service, Emergency Medicine

Dr. Kaori Tanaka is an attending physician specializing in emergency medicine at ECMC. She is board-certified in both emergency medicine and emergency medical services. Dr. Tanaka has worked in emergency medicine positions in Western New York and in San Antonio, Texas. She is the System Medical Director for Mercy Flight of Western New York and serves as Chair of the QI Committee for Western Regional Medical Advisory Committee (WREMAC). Dr. Tanaka is also Chief Medical Advisor for BlueSpear Solutions in Coconut Creek, FL.

An assistant clinical professor of Department of Emergency Medicine at University at Buffalo, Dr. Kaori Tanaka has extensive experience teaching and mentoring. A frequent lecturer and presenter, Dr. Tanaka discusses hemorrhage control, CPR/AED refreshment for law enforcement, among other EMS topics.

In 2019, Dr. Tanaka received the UT Clinical Excellence Award from UT Health San Antonio Emergency Medicine Department and the Chiefs’ Award from UT Health San Antonio Police Department. Her professional associations include Air Medical Physician Association, National Association of Emergency Medical Services Physicians, American College of Emergency Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
