Corey Leidenfrost, PhD  |  Psychologist

Dr. Corey Leidenfrost is Unit Chief of Transitions, a specialized psychiatric inpatient unit at ECMC for individuals at imminent risk of aggression, or who have recently become aggressive as result of a mental illness. In this role, Dr. Leidenfrost leads an interdisciplinary team of licensed mental health counselors, nurses, clinical managers, psychiatrists, occupational therapists and psychologists to stabilize patients and prevent further incidents related to mental health. He also provides oversight of individual therapy, group therapy, and assessment activities. In addition to his clinical role at ECMC, Dr. Corey Leidenforst provides mental health services to the Erie County Forensic Mental Health Service, conducting psychological assessments and tracking clinical outcomes over time. As Research Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo in the Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Corey Leidenfrost supervises the studies of both graduate and undergraduate students. Dr. Leidenfrost focuses his research on issues including aggression, violence, well-being, positive psychology topics, counter transference management, sex offender work, therapist effects, and mood disorders.
