ECMC Awarded Gilead Sciences “Focus Grant”

Funds will support HIV, hepatitis B and C testing and testing-related services

ECMC performing record number of kidney transplants

Erie County Medical Center is on pace to finish the year with its largest number of kidney transplants ever at the hospital. To date, the medical center has performed 109 kidney transplants in 2016 and 10 kidney-pancreas transplants. That's up from 69 kidney or kidney-pancreas cases in 2012, the year after the hospital opened a $27 million regional transplant and kidney care center as part of a project to combine the once-competitive programs at ECMC and Kaleida Health's Buffalo General Medical Center.

ECMC Residents Awarded by NY-ACP in Quality Improvement Poster Competition

Aishwarya Bhardwaj ASCVD poster earned first prize; Mansi Nigam OSA poster won second prize

The New York Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP) held their statewide poster competition on November 5th at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City at the NYACP Resident and Medical Student Forum. The competition attracted over 300 abstract submissions with 142 being accepted to the poster competition.

Kidney Transplants Reach Record High at ECMC in 2016; Procedures Improve Quality of Life, Give Hope

118 kidney transplants, from living and deceased donors, reach highest level of transplant activity in ECMC history; 13 pancreas transplants also performed

Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC) today announced that 2016 will establish the highest level of kidney transplant activity in the hospital’s history. To date, 118 kidney transplants have taken place at ECMC, coming from both living and deceased donors. Since 2010, kidney transplants at ECMC have increased approximately 19.4%. In addition to the kidney transplants, ECMC’s Regional Transplantation and Kidney Care Center of Excellence performed 13 pancreas transplants in 2016, taking the Center’s total transplants to an all-time high of 131.
