Bringing the best trauma care to our community requires seamless collaboration. As our region’s Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, ECMC leads the Western New York Regional Trauma Advisory Committee (RTAC). This committee represents the region’s trauma centers, community hospitals, and pre-hospital care providers, working together to bring optimal trauma care to the Western New York community. The goal of the of the Western New York RTAC is to identify approaches and implement a mechanism that ensures that all trauma patients in the region have access to quality trauma care.
Through this committee, opportunities for improvement in the delivery of trauma care in the region are discussed, and plans are developed, implemented, and reviewed. The results of these efforts are shared with the membership with the goal of improving care throughout the region. The activities of this committee are reported to the NYS Trauma Advisory Committee by the appointed representatives. The committee meets as frequently as business may require, ordinarily no more than four times a year and no less than twice a year.
