The Outpatient Behavioral Health Center works to provide safe, comprehensive care and integrated outpatient services to our patients and their families. In doing so, we hope to ensure that our patients are able to maximize safe and healthy participation within their community.

Treatments & Procedures

Through Outpatient Behavioral Health Services, we provide patients across the spectrum of mental health conditions with comprehensive treatment, including:

  • Daily mental health intake assessments (no appointment necessary) 
  • Individual and group counseling 
  • Medication evaluation and monitoring 
  • Treatment for a wide array of psychiatric disorders 
  • Dually diagnosed treatment (treatment for individuals with both a mental illness and substance-use treatment needs) 
  • Trauma-informed care and specific treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) 
  • Clozaril® management 

At every visit, patients receive compassionate treatment provided by skilled professionals, counselors, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and psychiatrists.

Outpatient Services

Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP)

A hospital-based emergency psychiatric service, ECMC’s CPEP (Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program) is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to treat patients of all ages. As one of the largest CPEP programs in New York State, it utilizes an entire floor in the Behavioral Health Outpatient Center to serve adults, children, and adolescents in crisis.

Partial Hospitalization Program for Adults

The ECMC Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for adults is designed to stabilize acute symptoms with the goals of avoiding a psychiatric inpatient hospitalization and/or reducing the length of a potential hospital stay should it be necessary.

Intensive Outpatient Program for Adults

The ECMC Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a structured, outpatient treatment opportunity that engages participants three days per week over four weeks.
