At the Center for Oncology Care, we offer head and neck oncology treatment for the full spectrum of cancers that may arise in this part of the body. In addition, our team of surgeons and doctors partner with oncology specialists from other areas to ensure a comprehensive approach to cancer care.

Typically, early symptoms of some of these cancers might include a painless lump in the neck, sores in the mouth that donʼt heal, a long-lasting sore throat, dental extraction sockets that donʼt heal, and unexplained earache. Risk factors for these types of cancer include smoking, drinking, and prior HPV infection.

The speech and swallowing therapy services at the Center for Cancer Care are designed to provide diagnosis, treatment, and management of swallowing and voice disorders.

Thoracic Oncology & Surgery

The ECMC Division of Thoracic Surgery is a highly skilled service in the Center that features many state-of-the-art cancer-related technologies, including the Ion endoluminal system, which is a robotic-assisted platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the lung that has broadened our capability at early detection and treatment of lung cancer, providing a much safer and faster way in diagnosing early-stage lung cancer.
