Oral Oncology & Maxillofacial Prosthetics

A number of different types of cancer can arise in the mouth, requiring specialty prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management. Within the Center for Oncology Care at ECMC, our dental team treats patients facing these conditions, and also treats the uncomfortable or painful symptoms that can accompany cancer care.
We also offer specialty maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation and reconstruction to patients with defects or disabilities due to disease, trauma, or congenital anomalies. Oral prosthetics are often needed to replace missing areas of bone or tissue and restore functions such as swallowing, speech, and chewing. In other instances, a prosthesis for the face or body may be indicated for cosmetic and psychosocial reasons. The overall goal of all maxillofacial prosthetic treatment is to improve the patientâs quality of life.
ECMC Oral Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthetics services were recently featured on âWNY Livingâ (WGRZ-TV, Ch. 2) with doctors Amanda Colebeck, DDS, MS; and Paul Canallatos, DDS, MS – See the news story on WGRZ.com
