As a member of the ECMC Executive Leadership Team, Donna M. Brown currently serves as Associate Hospital Administrator. Donna oversees administration of non-medical support and business services for ECMC. She implements operational strategies; develops budgets, policies, and procedures; and works closely with medical and clinical staff—all focused on delivering the best possible experiences to patients. Donna plans and directs activities for a number of ECMC’s non-patient care services, including the Volunteer Office, Pastoral Care, Hospital Switchboard, and the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers Survey (HCAHPS). Additional administrative responsibilities include overseeing the operation of ECMC’s Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Compliance Program, which creates procurement opportunities for small business owners to conduct business with ECMC and assists them in securing New York State Certification, including ensuring compliance with New York State laws and regulations.
Previously, ECMC recruited Donna to serve as its first Director of Patient Satisfaction and Cultural Awareness. This position required a proven leader with strong community relations experience, but without health care background to drive a patient-centered culture, overseeing patient advocacy and the patient experience to create an atmosphere of patient-centered care and diversity.
Prior to her roles at ECMC, Mayor Byron Brown appointed Donna as Deputy Mayor, where she focused on housing and community development issues, education, youth initiatives, community relations, business development/job creation, and developed an anti-poverty strategy for the Brown Administration. Donna also served as the Administration’s liaison with the Buffalo Public Schools and the district-wide Joint Schools Construction Project.
