Board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Geoffrey Bernas is a sports medicine specialist, with additional expertise in knee, shoulder, and hip arthroscopy.
In addition to earning his MD from the State University at New York School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Dr. Geoffrey Bernas completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the same institution. Further, he completed the Herodicus Sports Medicine Traveling Fellowship with Dr. Freddie Du, Dr. Christopher Harner, Dr. Stephen Burkhart, Dr. Brian Cole, Dr. Bernard Bach, and Dr. Anthony Romeo. He also earned the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Subspecialty Certificate from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
As Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopedics at SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, he shares his expertise with medical students, residents, and fellows pursuing orthopedic experience. Dr. Bernas is also a staff member of UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.
In addition to his practice, he is also Team Physician and Orthopedic Consultant to Erie Community College, Assistant Team Physician for the NCAA Division I Basketball Team at UB, and Assistant Team Physician and Orthopedic Consult for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League.
Dr. Geoffrey Bernas is also a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
