Jorge Ortiz, MD  |  Transplant Surgeon

Dr. Ortiz joins our team with many years of experience as a transplant surgeon, a professor, and a director of transplantation. At ECMC, he will focus on the patient experience and community outreach. Dr. Ortiz earned his MD and his PhD from Albany Medical College and finished his surgical residency at North Shore University Hospital. He went on to complete the organ transplantation fellowship program at Jackson Memorial Hospital of The University of Miami Medical Center. Serving as a member of countless committees, boards, societies, and councils, Dr. Ortiz has fulfilled a full spectrum of duties in service to his colleagues, his patients, and his profession. Additionally, he has worked on a myriad of research projects and has secured many grants for his work. Dr. Ortiz has taught extensively, presenting countless lectures, seminars, and symposia to various medical audiences across the nation. He has also published many works and contributed to numerous publications throughout his field.
