SUSAN M. GONZALEZ  |  Executive Director, ECMC Foundation

Possessing over three decades of nonprofit management and development experience, Susan M. Gonzalez is the Executive Director of the ECMC Foundation, where she oversees and guides the Foundation through its many important initiatives in support of the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. She collaborates with the Foundation Board of Directors to determine policies and initiatives for fund development, marketing, institutional advancement, finance, compliance, programs, administration, and human resources for the Foundation, and collaborates with the ECMC CEO to ensure the Foundation’s funding initiatives and programs reflect the needs and goals of the Hospital.

Susan develops an annual comprehensive plan for fundraising campaigns, including annual fund and capital campaigns. She also negotiates successful partnerships and sponsorships from corporate community; implements annual grant plan from local, national and government foundations; and provides development and oversight to ECMC Foundation programs including: the mobile mammography coach program and operations, Farmers’ Market, and ECMC Summer Youth Program.

Management of special events including Springfest Gala, Tournament of Life Golf Classic, Buffalo 4 Mile Chase, and other initiatives is also her responsibility. In addition to cultivating relationships to develop a structured solicitation plan for prospective donors (including ECMC employees, patients, and vendors), she builds alliances by representing the Foundation in the community.

In addition, Susan oversees the Foundation budget, financial controls, and annual audit.

Awards she has received include the National PAL Merit & Mentor Award in 2001; Outstanding Citizen of the Year from The Buffalo News in 2004, and the PAL of Buffalo Lifetime Service Award in 2014.
