Dr. William Flynn is Chief of Service in the Department of Surgery at ECMC. In addition, he serves as director of the Trauma Intensive Care Unit, attending staff surgeon, and interim chair of the Department of Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
In these roles, he brings care to patients at some of the most critical junctures, including after accidents or critical injury. His experience encompasses decades of clinical work and successful outcomes in trauma, burn care, surgical treatment, and more, including certifications in advanced burn life support, advanced trauma life support, and advanced cardiac life support.
Dr. William Flynn is also Vice-Chair for Clinical Affairs and Associate Professor for the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, where he helps train up-and-coming medical talent in the work of critical care.
In addition to his clinical work, he focuses his research and publications on a number of topics related to trauma care.
Dr. William Flynn has earned a number of awards over the course of his career, including being named the Lifeline Distinguished Physician Honoree and the Young Surgeon of the Year Award.
