Biography

Dr. Michael Farrell is delighted to return home to Buffalo and join the interventional pain management team at ECMC.  He is double board certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Pain Medicine.  He aspires to offer the most innovative pain therapies to better serve the hard-working people of Western New York.  Prior to medical training, Dr. Farrell obtained a chiropractic degree from D’Youville University which has greatly influenced his comprehensive approach to patient care.  He then attended Ross University School of Medicine and completed PM&R residency training at Georgetown University within the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital in Washington, DC.  He is heavily involved in a diverse array of musculoskeletal research and holds a volunteer research position within the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  His primary areas of research include advanced ultrasound-guided injection techniques and diversified applications of novel musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging modalities.  He finished his training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where he completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine within the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine.
